A Ballarat Construction company (Pipecon) has been fined more than half a milllion dollars over the deaths of 2 young tradies (aged 21 and 34) in 2018.
Failure to provide the appropriate protective equipment (such as a manhole cage or trench shield) as well as onsite supervision lead to the unfortunate deaths of two construction workers when a trench collapsed on site.
The company in question pleaded guilty to a worksafe charge 3 years after the incident occured, incurring a fine of $550k.
